The Mormon Church ban of blacks before 1978

    Falcon,
Funny how the LDS here keep throwing us under the bus by saying we have denominations. Yet the LDS have many denominations with in the LDS church, and you notice they never mention them or bring them up? Funny how that is.

    fred,
So the Church’s official position is still that blacks are an inferior race? That they are “cursed” with dark skin because they supposedly did something in the preexistence without any memory of it? Because unless this is now deemed false, then it remains an official doctrine. Of course, I’ve been around enough Mormons to know their true thoughts on black people… at least the Mormons age 25 and older. This younger generation is pretty clueless to the older positions and less popular doctrines of the Church.
Actually, fred, this A+B=C logic DOES work on the Old and New Testament… man could not resolve the sin debt (A) + Jesus Christ comes to wipe away the sins of the world and pay this debt for us (B) = if you put your faith in Jesus (not a Church, not a religion, not a man who claims to be a prophet), then you will be saved (C). It’s pretty simple.
The comical part about all of this is that you keep harping on that MRM is deceiving people and perpetuating lies and making mountains out of mole hills. You still can’t see that MRM (and the commenters) are all using direct teachings and quotes (in its original context, with the source given for us to go and check it out) from the LDS Church’s scriptures, doctrines, and leaders.

    falcon,
I think you’re spot on about your assessment of fred. I’ve said before, just because someone has a bunch of answers, it doesn’t make them right.
And I’m stealing the relevant question being “Who is Jesus?” thing. Hope you don’t mind. Very, very good point.

Fred keeps talking about a Christian club. I want to know how come I wasn’t invited?!

It is interesting that it seems that we are like stars revolving around a black hole. We seem to come close to understanding the others ideas then we fling ourselves off on an odd tangent and have to ponder what was said and what to say.
I was trying state that we can see something good but if we look hard enough find something bad in it. It’s as simple as that.
    Rick
Gee its’ odd that a comment has been deleted. Fred asked you a simple question and you ranted on him. I once used the Jerusalem bible but have also read bits of NASB and NIV. Which one is the best to use I don’t know but which one do you use?

  4. Rick B says:

    Clyde,
I did not rant on Fred, I simply spoke the truth. If it is deleted for telling the truth then I dont know what to say. I did not make things up up him or you. I’m tired of you guys saying You trust the Bible and leaving it at that, when we all know full well that you guys believe the AoF 8, you guys never quote that whole thing, only part. I have spoken with LDS in person and asked them, where do you stand on the Bible? They say that they believe the Bible, but when I then mention the AoF 8 they say, O-yea we believe that. You guys purposely mislead people by not saying the entire thing. Then both you and Fred act as if the rest of the AoF was something I simply made up and invented on the spot. You or Fred even said, I belittle the Bible by saying you guys think it was not translated correctly.

I dont like it when you guys take your AoF and act as if I invented it on the spot. Own you faith and live it, dont act as if we are making stuff up. I stand by what I said and wont back down. If the Mods deleted something I said for speaking the truth and backing it up with evidence, then thats on them. At least you LDS cannot say your the only ones to have things deleted. What I said about Fred applies to you also Clyde.

You used the A+B=C idea differently here then when it was applied to the LDS teachings. Did you do that with fore thought, or do you really not understand that you are using a double standard?
To put it more directly, are you deceived by those who want this Church to be false, or are you one of the deceivers?

Fred commentted on what bible was best translated. You seemed to have taken it all wrong and said something about lying about the Bible. We do believe the Bible but also say -as far as it is translated correctly. This is where it get touchy. One question that pops into my head is where? I read one of Bart Erhmans’ books and he noted something about the translation that I should look up that was a glaring mistranslation. If I can find it I might be able to share but if its only one then I will be completely fluxed.

  7. Rick B says:

Clyde, I did not take what Fred said wrong. like I said before, you guys acted as if AoF 8 was something I simply made up and you or Fred said I was belittling the Bible by say that, now you back track and act as if you have always know that you believe the AoF 8. Also if you and Fred are so concerned about what translation of the Bible to use, Why not ask your prophet to Pray and get an answer? You guys expect him to tell you everything else. Or why not use the J.S.T of the Bible? JS was commanded by God to Correct the Bible and that is how we got the J.S.T.

Then while you at it, why not answer Kates question and tell us what translation of the BoM to use, trust and read? How about the original 1830 version before the 4,000 plus changes? How come you dont use that one? and if you do, why does it not bother you about some of the doctrinal changes that are in the never versions?

    Clyde,
I do not understand your response, or what you are trying to explain, but that’s okay. Please do consider the possibility if the LDS prophets were wrong on this, what else could they be wrong on? What if Jesus truly did establish his Church for all time, and people have had their sins freely forgiven ever since He came – and there was no need for a restoration? What if those who claim to restore true Christianity are actually denying the truth and denigrating the Church that Jesus did create – the universal Church of all who have faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ for their sins? Openly examine what you accept as true. A simple faith in the blood of Jesus, trusting in the mercy of the one true God is the awesome truth of all that God has done for us. We see it in Abraham trusting God by faith, and also in God’s people as they trusted the blood of the passover lamb and passed through the water of the Red Sea to deliverance, today – we trust in the blood of our passover lamb Jesus, and pass through the waters of our baptism into the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All who simply trust in the blood of Jesus have eternal life with God – all their sins are washed away.
