Sharon surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1979. Deeply passionate about Truth, Sharon loves serving as a full-time volunteer research associate with Mormonism Research Ministry. Sharon and her husband live in Minnesota.
Merry Christmas, Sharon! Merry Christmas, everyone else at MRM!
I love Prudentius. If you ever have the chance to read a collection of his poetry, do it!
This Wisdom uttered made the sky,
The sky and light and all besides;
All by the Word’s almighty power
Were fashioned, for the Word was God.
But when the universe was formed
And ordered by unchanging laws,
The Cause and Architect divine
In the Father’s bosom still remained,
Until the slow revolving years
In centuries at length had passed,
And He Himself vouchsafed to come
Down to the world grown old in sin.
For men whom passion had made blind
Were led into idolatry
And put their faith in gods of bronze,
Or wood, or cold unfeeling stone,
And thus misled by Satan’s guile,
They fell beneath his fearful yoke
And plunged their souls, enslaved to sin,
Into the fiery pit of Hell.
But such destruction of mankind
The Heart of Christ could not endure;
And lest His Father’s handiwork,
Unvindicated, should be lost,
He clothed Himself in mortal flesh,
That by arising from the tomb,
He might unlock the chains of death
And bring man to His Father’s House.
(Liber Cathemerinon 11.21-48)
My wife and I want to wish you and the rest of the MRM gang a very Merry Christmas ,
and we want to also wish those who post on this blog a Merry Christmas as well .
The falcon adds his voice to all who are wishing Sharon and all of the other contributors here on MC a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will lead each of us in the coming year as we reach out to the Mormon people to find out who God is and what He has done for us through Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Despite the fact that I don’t have nearly as much time to comment around here as I would like anymore I wanted to make sure and thank everyone at MRM for the love and respect they have for us Mormons and to wish all my old friends here a Merry Christmas. God bless us, everyone!
TJT,
Thank you for your Christmas greetings and for noticing, that despite the fact that I/we can be pointed at times, it’s out of concern for the salvation of the Mormon people that keeps us laboring here.
I think, in my case at least, I’ve been called to defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was once and for all delivered to “the saints”. The Bible calls the “saints” the true believers. True believers in what, we might ask?
I think for Mormons the challenge would be to see clearly the difference between the message as presented in the Bible and the message that Joseph Smith called a “restoration”.
Anyway, thank you for your participation here. I would hope that you can contribute more in the coming year.
Merry Christmas Sharon and thank you for all of your hard work this past year!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Beautiful hymn, thanks.
A blessed Christmas to all 🙂
