“What Jesus has to offer trumps what Joseph Smith has to offer by a million-fold.”
So true. I wholeheartedly agree. I am pretty sure every other Mormon would agree with that statement as well.
would those same Mormons give up Mormonism to follow Him?
I remember when LDS historian David Whittaker asked my wife, “Don’t you want to be married with Aaron forever?”
“No, actually I don’t.”
LDS might assume that moment was a moment of relational distance or coldness. But when she said that we smiled and held each other even more tightly.
Our marriage which ends at death points to something greater than our marriage: the eternal marriage between the Christ and his Bride.
As Jesus said, we shall become as the angels.
Aaron, I was asked the same question at the Manti outreach a few years ago, and answered the same way your wife did. I received a momentary blank stare from the Mormon I was talking with, and then he said, “Well, most women love their husbands.” Which, of course, I do love my husband — very much. Yet I love Christ more, as does my husband, and that’s what we look forward to in eternity; an even deeper, more intimate, perfect love, as you say, an eternal marriage between Christ and we, His bride. Wow. I can hardly wait!
Matt 10:34-37
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
“For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD. “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matt 12:47-50
Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.” But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! “For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
Luke 14:26
“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
WOW
I hope everyone will go out on Aaron’s link, and at least start reading that book. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
