Thank you for your lively participation. Some of you seem to really like the experimental comment system (we’re glad!), but we are reminded afresh of the reason why we earlier imposed a comment limit. Sharon does most of the work overseeing this site, and we need to lighten her load. Effective immediately we are re-enforcing our limit of six comments per day (I don’t remember if that was the number before, but I’m picking six). Because the experimental commenting software doesn’t automatically enforce this, you will need to be diligent to count your daily comments lest they be the victim of my merciless penchant for clicking the delete button. Inordinately long comments will also be removed.
We could also use your help. If you see a violation of our comment policies, please click the “report” button (next to the “reply” button) and alert us.
Thank you for your cooperation. Your regularly schedule program will resume in 3… 2… 1…
Sorry Sharon, I am the main culprit! Me and Lautensack…feel free to delete all of my comments if it makes it easier on you 🙂
I'm sorry, but I'm having real trouble with this new system.
A couple of my posts have gone awol, and I can't follow threads because the 'jump to' buttons don't work. Granted, I'm stuck with IE6 at work, but I'm not getting much further with Safari and Firefox from home.
You're going to be in a world of web-application-hurt with IE6, sorry man. But look at "sort by" at the top of discussion threads where you can sort by date or activity.
Thanks Aaron,
I since found out that my IE6 comments had not gone AWOL, but the popup warning about too many words was off-screen (scroll down). Seems that IE6 has a hard word limit, but Firefox and Safari dont. However, the 'jump to' button seems to work in IE6, but not in Firefox or Safari.
Also it looks like the 'sort by' function brings up the start of the thread, not the latest comment.
Yeah, I know, if all else fails I should read the instructions, but knowing that the comment system behaves differently under different browsers helps.
Keep up the good work.
