Is there audio of Bill doing a drum solo?

Well, it looks like he’s playing a lectern. At Easter, we went to a big Christian Rock festival, and one of my favorite moments was when the drummer of Winterson got up out of his kit and played the microphone stand.

…I wonder if Bill is that good too?

Had to laugh at 2 of the pictures of some of the presenters while they were on the stand. Red eyes – demon possessed!!! 🙂

    Aaron,

    Thank you for the invitation.

I attended the Saturday session of the Compassionate Boldness and I listened attentively to the plenary sessions and the workshops.

I had the opportunity of talking to a number of the attendees who were very friendly and I even purchased a number of books signed by the authors.

Not to sound negative, but from an LDS perspective on the sessions and workshops I attended I noticed many errors of misinterpreting, misconstruing and misrepresenting LDS doctrine, history, and practices. It seemed to me to be a case of “the blind leading the blind” which typifies so much of Mormon “criticism”.

I had to ask myself why these speakers, who are obviously intelligent and educated people, could be so far off the mark in their misconceptions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In my humble opinion, I think that many of these misconceptions stem from a lack of personal interaction with the LDS community and a lack of familiarity with the voluminous body of LDS research and scholarship on LDS topics which is readily available to the public.

    Just my thoughts.

    Grace and peace.

Stuart, we at MRM get this criticism a lot from Mormons. It usually comes in the form of a short one-paragraph e-mail. We reply asking for specifics, and usually never hear from the person again.

When a specific is offered, it almost always has something to do with a position that has nothing to do with indisputable facts but rather about the long-standing differences of approach to history and doctrine that are shaped by either one’s Mormon or evangelical worldview.

So all that said, please provide some specifics.

    Take care,

    Aaron

  6. By the way… it was nice to see you! Thanks for the chat after the conference wrapped up.

    Take care,

    Aaron

    Aaron,

Is this a crafty ploy to get me to buy the MP3s? I could conduct a line-by-line refutation of the many “misinterpretations, misconstruings, and misrepresentations” made in the various sessions and workshops but I would first have to hand over a chunk of change to get the MP3’s.

    Cheers,

  8. Heh. Not a crafty ploy at all. Check your e-mail.
