OK!
Change is hard, especially for us old guys both in terms of our chronological age and longevity on MC. But there are a few features that I do like better. I think the layout is good and now that I know I can change the order of the posts I can set it up the way I want to.
Not sure how I feel about the new comment system, BUT, I do like not needing to log in with WP anymore; it was constantly telling me my password was incorrect, but never sent a password retrieval to my mailbox. Very annoying! Open ID is way easier. 🙂
This is great! I've been trying to comment for the past year (but couldn't) and now I can!
The changes are awesome – i would only suggest that the comments be by default organized by date.
Not sure how everyone here is individually logging in, but let me encourage you to set up your avatar at: http://www.gravatar.com/ — it should show up in these comment threads
But then you get ridiculous comments promoted to being the first comment. Like this one. haha
Sweet!
Everyone rate up the OK! comment! 😀
I'm still trying to get used to these new features. It looks nice.
I agree with ex-mo, default to organization by date as to that is what I am more used to elsewhere. However, I also like the ratings sort – it just loses a bit of context for me.
I agree – organization by date should be default. Especially for people who are new to the site and are confused by the comments because they don't follow a coherent order, and they don't know that they can click "Date" to reorganize them. We tend to go all over the place with our comments, and having it go by date is probably the best default option.
Well after messing around with this for a few days I can say that I liked the old listing of the posts better. I've tried each of the options and there's just no flow to it. Before, I was able to follow the sequence of the posts much better. I'd probably also tube the rating system. That can get easily manipulated and it sets up an unnecessary competition among the posters.
I added the threaded feature to, so replies should be connected to their parent-comments.
Definitely default by date. And if it can be organized by reverse date, so much the better. I still seem to be having some issues with it — for instance, being automatically logged out after only a few minutes, and not being able to comment more than a few hundred characters — but overall, it is a lot more streamlined, I'm sure whatever bugs will get worked out eventually.
Testing out the comment section.
